The Operations Manager (Ops Manager) is responsible for managing operations and personnel for locations with approximately 200+ truck units. This role requires hands-on leadership and direct involvement to ensure business objectives, labor requirements, and customer expectations are met while balancing financial, operating, quality, safety, and asset targets.

This role may also serve as a developmental position preparing the incumbent for a Senior Operations Manager role. The Ops Manager leads performance across safety, quality, labor, customer satisfaction, and cost control. This role ensures the location executes all company processes, SOPs, and Standard Repair Practices while meeting or exceeding business and customer metrics.

Essential Job Functions

Operations Management

  • Work analysis, vehicle planning, technician scheduling, productivity tracking, and RO approvals
  • Labor planning, workload balancing, and shift optimization
  • Manage straight time, overtime, and outside repair usage
  • Oversee Automated Planning System (APS)

Labor Management

  • Train, develop, and performance-manage staff
  • Execute Technical Training Plan and TOPS priorities
  • Recruiting, hiring, onboarding, payroll, and succession planning

Customer Management

  • Customer relationship management, issue resolution, satisfaction, and retention
  • Execute customer communication protocols
  • Optimize vehicle uptime and cycle time
  • Collaborate with Sales on Customer Care Plans and conduct customer visits

Financial Management

  • Manage maintenance budget and P&L
  • Control net maintenance cost per unit
  • Execute warranty, vendor sourcing, bill-backs, payroll, PO approvals, and invoice reconciliation
  • Maintain Shop Management Online system data integrity

Asset Management

  • Maintain shop appearance and 6S standards
  • Tooling, equipment, and vehicle specification management
  • Parts inventory and collaboration with Rental for PMs, utilization, and wash logs

Quality Management

  • Lead PM and repair inspections
  • Root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with safety, state, federal, EPA, and customer standards
  • Maintain documentation and continuous improvement programs
